Centralised tax

You live outside the European Union and made purchases in the Place des Halles shopping centre? You can deduct VAT from the price of the goods you buy in France: take advantage of our centralised tax exemption service with Global Blue!

What are the conditions to receive tax exemption?

  • You have spent at least €100.01 (including taxes) within 3 consecutive days:
    • in the same retailer to receive tax exemption in store
    •  in participating Place des Halles shops to benefit from centralised tax exemption
  • You are not a citizen of the European Union
  • You are at least 16 years old
  • You are visiting France for less than 6 months
  • You hold a valid passport, visa or any other document proving your status as a non-EU visitor (photocopies and photos are not accepted by customs)

Tax-free shopping

Most Place des Halles shops offer in-store tax-free shopping: spend at least €100.01 (including taxes) in the same retailer to receive tax exemption.

Centralised tax exemption service available at the Place des Halles reception desk

If you made purchases in different shops in the shopping centre and their combined value exceeds €100.01 (including taxes), you can take advantage of centralised tax exemption on all your purchases, provided that the shops where you made your purchases have partnered with our service.
To request a tax refund or to find out about partner shops, visit our reception desk on the 1st floor of the shopping centre: our receptionists will be happy to help you!

What goods are not eligible for tax exemption?

  • tobacco
  • services
  • vehicles
  • pharmaceuticals

How to receive your refund?

In the shop or at the shopping centre’s reception desk, ask for the tax-free service and receive a tax-free form.
Before leaving the European Union, go to the customs office to validate your form.
Then visit a Global Blue refund point to receive your refund in your preferred method, or visit globalblue.com for other options.
Please note that tax-free shopping is a service provided by some retailers and by Place des Halles shopping centre, but it is not compulsory for all shops.
